The MVME6100 series from Emerson Network Power is the first VMEbus singleboard computer (SBC) designed with the Tundra Tsi148 VMEbus interface chip offering two edge source synchronous transfer (2eSST) VMEbus performance. The 2eSST protocol enables the VMEbus to run at a practical bandwidth of 320MB/s in most cases. The MVME6100 is designed to meet the needs of OEMs servicing the defense and aerospace, industrial automation and medical imaging market segments.

This fieldbus module (FBM) is a generic Ethernet hardware module in which different software drivers can be loaded. These drivers configure the FBM to recognize a particular protocol used by the device. Several of the software drivers are standard product offerings. Other custom drivers can be developed to meet specific needs.

　　Advant Controller 160 offers a wide range of configuration options for control system applications with high requirements concerning availability and safety. 　　For high availability—depending on the requirements—a single or even a double fault must be tolerated by the control system. I.e. the configured functions e.g., the control functions of a turbine must run without any interruption in case of a fault. 　　For safety a single or even a double fault must not impede a needed trip of the plant (e.g. a boiler or a turbine). Additionally for high availability usually it is required that a single fault must not activate a trip. 　　Availability can be increased through redundancy. Advant Controller 160 offers module redundancy for all central system components (communication modules, Processor Modules, power supply modules). For redundant signal I/O multiple I/O modules within separate controllers can be used.

Typical installations use redundant power supplies to power the controller and the field circuitry. Under normal operating conditions, the required power is shared between the two power sources. Typically, the sharing is approximately equal with each power supply providing 50 percent of the system power.

The internal signal grounds (logic and field) are allowed to float with respect to the safety ground. In most installations, it is best to tie the signal ground and safety ground together at one and only one point.

Analog Output (AO) Modules contain the circuitry for three identical, isolated channels. Each channel includes a proprietary ASIC that receives its output table from the I⁄O communication processor on its corresponding main processor. The AO Modules use special shunt circuitry to vote on the individual output signals before they are applied to the load. This voter circuitry insures only one output, A or B or C, is driving the field load. The shunt output circuitry provides multiple redundancy for all critical signal paths, guaranteeing safety and maximum availability.
